During a roleplay, you might notice the AI cutting you off before you finish speaking. While this can feel disruptive, it’s a known limitation of conversational AI called “end-of-utterance detection.” The AI is trying to guess when you’re done speaking. Sometimes, if you pause briefly or speak in a certain rhythm, it mistakenly thinks you’ve finished and jumps in early.

Why It Happens

Pauses in your speech

  1. A short pause can signal to the AI that your turn is over.

Sensitivty settings

  1. The platform’s AI has been tuned to balance responsiveness with patience - sometimes it errs on the side of responding quickly.

Technical limitation

End-of-utterance detection is an ongoing industry-wide challenge, not unique to Exec.

What You Can Do

  1. Keep talking: If the AI interrupts, continue speaking - it will adjust and allow you to finish your thought.
  2. Minimize long pauses: Try to avoid extended silences mid-sentence, as the AI may interpret them as your turn ending.
  3. **Use headphones: **This reduces feedback loops that sometimes confuse the AI and cause premature responses.
  4. Ask your Exec representative about adjustments: The Exec team can sometimes tweak session settings to reduce interruption frequency.
Quick ChecklistIf the AI interrupts you often:
  • Keep speaking through interruptions.
  • Reduce mid-sentence pauses.
  • Use a consistent mic/headset setup.
  • Reach out to Exec if interruptions are severely affecting your experience.

Best Practices

  • Treat interruptions as part of practice. In real-world conversations, people sometimes talk over each other - managing interruptions can itself be a skill to develop.
  • Give clear cues. Ending with a definitive phrase or tone can help signal when you’re done.
  • Provide feedback. If interruptions happen frequently, let your Exec contact know - ongoing improvements to detection are in development.

In short: If the AI keeps interrupting you, it’s due to how the system detects when you’ve finished speaking. Keep talking, reduce long pauses, and use headphones for the smoothest experience.
