Integration Types

Exec supports three levels of LMS integration, depending on how deeply you want Exec embedded into your learning workflows. The simplest way to connect Exec with your LMS. Your LMS admin adds a link or button to a course, learning path, or module that opens Exec in a new tab. Learners click through to access their assigned roleplays directly. This is ideal for organizations that want to get up and running quickly without any technical configuration. Your team reviews performance and completion data within the Exec platform. What you need: A URL to your Exec workspace, which your Exec account representative will provide.

iFrame Embed

For organizations that want learners to stay inside their LMS or portal, Exec supports embedding the full workspace in an iframe. Learners see the complete Exec UI — roleplays, Skills, Coaching — without leaving the parent site. iFrame embedding is self-service. A workspace admin adds the LMS or portal’s origin under Settings → Security → Iframe Embedding, then the LMS admin drops an <iframe> tag into a course or module. What you need: Admin access to both Exec and the embedding site, and the ability to add an iframe on the parent page.

LTI 1.3

For organizations that need a fully integrated experience, Exec supports the LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) 1.3 standard. LTI enables single sign-on from your LMS into Exec and supports grade passback, so completion and performance data flow back into your LMS gradebook automatically. LTI 1.3 is self-service. A workspace admin connects an LMS from Workspace settings → Integrations → LTI 1.3 in either of two ways:
  • Dynamic registration for LMSes that support it — generate a one-time URL in Exec and paste it into your LMS.
  • Manual connection for LMSes that don’t — register Exec as an external tool in the LMS, then paste the platform details back into Exec.

How to Choose

For most organizations, the Link or Button integration is the fastest path to launching Exec within your LMS. Organizations with stricter requirements around single sign-on or grade reporting should explore LTI 1.3.

With the Link or Button and iFrame integrations, performance data lives in the Exec platform. With LTI 1.3, completion and score data can be passed back into your LMS gradebook.
With LTI 1.3, learners authenticate through the LMS and are signed into Exec automatically. With Link or Button and iFrame integrations, learners sign into Exec separately (or via SSO if your organization has SSO enabled).
Link or Button and iFrame can both be set up in minutes. LTI 1.3 requires coordination with your IT team and Exec, and timelines vary depending on your LMS environment.
