# Session Not Scored

> Why a finished roleplay shows "Retry Session to Unlock Insights" instead of your results

Sometimes a roleplay ends normally, the feedback page loads, and instead of your results you see a box headed **Retry Session to Unlock Insights**. Your session was saved. It simply was not graded.

This is different from a feedback page that never finishes loading. If yours is stuck spinning, see [Feedback Page Not Loading](/roleplays/troubleshooting/feedback-not-loading) instead.

Two things cause this message, and the line underneath the heading tells you which one applies.

## 1. The Conversation Was Too Short

> Have a longer conversation to unlock insights

Scenarios use a 30 second minimum, and a session that ends below it is not graded at all: no evaluation criteria are scored and no AI feedback is generated.

**What to do:** run the roleplay again using the **Retry** button on the message, and keep the conversation going past the minimum before you end the call.

<Note>
  30 seconds is the default. A few older scenarios were built when the minimum was 90 seconds and still use it, so a deliberately short roleplay can finish just under the line without producing a score.
</Note>

## 2. The Conversation Did Not Match the Scenario

> Your conversation does not align with the scenario objectives. Try again to unlock insights

Here the length was fine, but the conversation did not engage what the scenario asked for. This usually happens when a session is spent testing the AI, talking about something unrelated, or ending before the situation in the brief actually comes up.

**What to do:** reread the scenario brief, then retry and work through the situation it describes.

## What Happens to the Session

An ungraded session is kept, not discarded:

* It stays in **My Sessions** with its recording and transcript intact
* It shows a score of 0 and a rank of **Unranked**
* It does **not** count toward your best score, attempt counts, assignment completion, skill progress, or workspace analytics
* The AI Coach panel is not available for it

<Note>
  **For admins:** because these sessions do not count toward completion, a learner whose attempts all end early will show as incomplete on a required roleplay even though they have tried it several times. If someone reports finishing an assignment that still reads as incomplete, check the length of their sessions first.
</Note>

## Best Practices

* **Let short scenarios breathe** - even for a quick pitch, stay in the conversation a little past the point where you feel finished
* **Do not end the call the moment you have said your piece** - give the AI a chance to respond so the exchange registers as a conversation
* **Check the brief before retrying** - if you got the objectives message, the fix is direction, not length
* **Test scenarios before assigning them** - run one session end to end so you find any problems before your team does
